Why Clean Your Injectors

Dirty injectors hide behind other symptoms

Fuel injectors play a critical role in how your engine performs. Over time, dirt, carbon, and ethanol-related deposits build up inside — causing injectors to clog, leak, or deliver fuel unevenly.

Warning Signs

Common symptoms of dirty or faulty injectors

  • Poor performance or loss of power
  • Increased fuel consumption
  • Hard starting or rough idle
  • Smoke from the exhaust
  • Surging, hesitation, or misfires
  • Check engine light warnings
  • Fuel in oil or hydrolock (fuel in cylinders)
  • Trouble getting on plane (boats)
  • Damage to O₂ sensors or catalytic converters
Chasing an electrical gremlin? These issues are often mistaken for bad spark plugs, coils, or wiring. If your ignition system checks out, the fuel system is the next place to look — and clogged injectors are usually the culprit. Clean injectors restore proper spray patterns, ensure even fuel delivery, and keep your engine running at peak efficiency.

The Ethanol Problem

Modern fuel works against you

Modern fuels contain ethanol, which absorbs moisture from the air. That water separates from the fuel and sinks to the bottom of the tank — and even busy gas stations aren’t immune to water contamination.

If ethanol-related issues occur, the fuel system may need to be drained or “polished” — filtered to remove water and debris. But by the time you’ve addressed the fuel, the damage has often already reached your injectors. That’s where professional injector cleaning comes in.

Water in the tank leads to:

  • Rust in metal fuel tanks
  • Corrosion in pumps and injectors
  • Reduced fuel quality and performance
  • Deposits that clog injector filters and nozzles
